All About Threads - Fine, Coarse, Metric and More
March 22, 2022
Many unique screw types look very similar at first glance. Our screw thread guide might help in finding the style you really need.
Almost every different style of screw, bolt or nut, has a unique thread style designed to make it the right part for its designated use (drywall, deck, thread forming, etc...)
What makes them distinct from one another can be the depth of the threads, the angle of the threads, the spacing between the threads or even special cutouts, such as in thread cutting screws.
To help sort out the confusion that can come from all of these different thread styles, we created a guide - "Screws - Thread Styles".
In addition to explaining the role of threads in different types of screws, the guide also explains unified threads in coarse and fine configurations, along with how metric threads differ from standard, imperial sized threads.
Additionally, the guide includes charts showing all the sizes and thread counts we carry in machine screw coarse and fine threads, and in metric threads. Check out our guide today, and if you need more help, give us a call at (866) 688-2500.
