Self Piercing Screws
August 15, 2024
Self Piercing Screws, also known as metal roofing screws, are available in steel / zinc in slotted or unslotted hex washer head styles, along with several other variations. Many sizes are available with an attached bonded neoprene washer.
Self piercing screws with a hex washer head and slotted drive are one of the more common styles of these types of screws. The hex shaped head and slotted drive provide options for driving the screw into place. An extra sharp point allows for driving into thin metals, such as in roofing materials.
The most commonly used style of self piercing screws include a bonded neoprene washer under the head. This washers allows for a tight seal between the screw and the metal roof in order to prevent moisture from penetrating into the wood onto which the roof is attached.
Self piercing screws with modified truss heads are a more recent option for this style of screw. This head style allows for a lower profile and a larger bearing surface. The phillips drive on these screws provides an alternate to the hex drive of other screws in this category.
Our selection also includes options in 18-8 stainless steel, 410 stainless steel and some options with a black phos finish.
